Best Haunted Attractions in East Idaho

During my first semester at BYU- Idaho, I decided to go with my roommates to the Haunted River in Menan. It was my first time experiencing a haunted maze. Even though I hate jump scares, I braced myself and put my nerves to the test.

Going to the Haunted River turned out to be one of my most unforgettable and best memories about Rexburg.

The haunting and eerie details put into the location and costumes exceeded my expectations. It was like being in a different world.

1. The Haunted River- Menan

The Haunted River Attraction in Menan is sure to spook up your Halloween season! The legend goes that during the 1800s, a fiery preacher and the discovery of gold disrupted the peace between white settlers and Native Americans. Tensions brought war, hatred and greed…bringing the wrath of Wanetaqua the Soul Taker…

Price: $5-$25 depending on what night you go on. Bring student ID for a $5 discount.

2. Haunted Straw Maze and Haunted Forest- Rexburg

Wanting to experience the haunted side of Idaho farmlands? Then come visit Rexburg’s Haunted Straw Maze. Find your way through a dark maze with ghosts, clowns, and scarecrows hiding in each corner. Open from October 1st- October 31st.

If you are in for more scares, visit their sister attraction, The Haunted Forest. There, you will walk through thick bushes and looming trees while monsters and ghosts lurk in the shadows to scare you. Open from September 30th-October 31st.

Price: $15 for those 5 and up. Free for children under 4. $75 for season pass and $25 for Haunted All-Inclusive Package.

3. Doom Haunted Attraction- Idaho Falls

If you’re an avid horror lover then come to Doom! Known as Idaho’s largest indoor haunted attraction, Doom is full of gore, graphic imagery, violence, strobes and flashing lights. 85% of the attraction is wheelchair accessible.

This attraction is not for children or the faint of heart.

Price: $15 for general admission. $20 for general admission on the last three Saturdays of October. $5 for a fast pass upgrade. Tickets must be purchased online in advance.

4. Haunted Mill-Teton

The Haunted Mill is a historic mill and haunted attraction in Teton. It is home to many local legends like the Lady in White and Slenderman. At this attraction, you will be going through all four levels of the mill, a log granary, an underground mine,waterfall, suspension bridge, and more. Expect to be scared by monsters and ghosts of all sorts throughout the whole tour!

*Children under 10 not admitted without an adult.

5. The Theatre of Lost Souls and The Hospital of Lost Souls- Shelley

Wanting to be in the presence of lost souls? Then Lost Souls attractions in Shelley may be just the right place. There are two locations: The Theater of Lost Souls and The Hospital of Lost Souls.

The Theater of Lost Souls is located at the historical Virginia Theater. Not only does the theater have a mysterious history, but many locals claim it is haunted.

The Hospital of Lost Souls is held at an old building on State Street with the words ‘Hospital’ still at the top. Not only was the building a hospital but also a restaurant and club in past years. An old dumbwaiter, musty basement, and surgical room add to the eeriness of the place.

Lost Souls Attractions require physical activity. Expect crawling, sliding, climbing, and limited vision. There are also fog machines and strobe lights. Not recommended for children under 10.
