As a BYU-I student, I didn’t make the smartest decisions when it came to storing my belongings when I was on my off track. I either took all my belongings back home to California or spent tons of dollars just to have it stored at my apartment in Rexburg. Unless you have family or a friend in Idaho that will store your things for free, storage facilities are your second best option.

The Fall of the House of Usher is a gothic story by Edgar Allan Poe, published in 1839. Told from the first person narrative of an unnamed narrator, it is about the deteriorating house of Usher and its inhabitants inside: Roderick and Madeleine Usher both of whom are siblings and are facing extreme physical and mental diminishment. However, critics have analyzed deeper themes that revolve around parallels, history, physical objects, and the power of opposites.

Back home, older Asian ladies wear long sleeves and long pants, despite the ninety degree weather. My grandma tells me how proud she is of my light skin. My cousin expresses how much she hates getting tan in the summer. This is no surprise. For many Asians, lighter skin represents beauty, wealth, and a comfortable life indoors, while dark skin represents ugliness, poverty and labor in the sun. Colorist ideologies have existed in Asian countries long before European colonization and are still being reinforced by the media and beauty industry today. In modern society, not only does colorism influence classist discrimination--it increases anti-Black racism within Asian and Asian American communities.
